Kurzprofil:

Dr. Ercüment Çelik ist Soziologe mit den Forschungsschwerpunkten der Arbeits- und Entwicklungssoziologie.

Er hat an der Middle East Technical University in der Türkei Soziologie studiert. Seinen M.A. hat er im Global Studies Programme an der Universität Freiburg, der University of KwaZulu Natal in Südafrika sowie an der Jawaharlal Nehru University in Indien abgeschlossen.

2009 promovierte er zum Dr. phil. am Institut für Soziologie der Universität Freiburg, wo er seitdem als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter tätig ist.

Seine Dissertation Street Traders: A Bridge Between Trade Unions and Social Movements in Contemporary South Africa wurde im Juli 2010 bei der Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft veröffentlicht. Am 14. Dezember 2011 erhielt Ercüment Celik den Young Social Scientists Award 2011 von der Turkish Social Sciences Association für seine Dissertation
