RESUMÉE

Die Gewerkschaften erlebten sowohl im globalen Norden als auch im globalen Süden eine Krise. Diese hat die Suche nach alternativen Formen der gewerkschaftlichen Organisierung erfordert. Mehr oder weniger parallel hat sich eine „soziale Gewerkschaftsbewegung“ (SGB - social movement unionism) entwickelt. Gemeint ist damit ein Bündnis von Gewerkschaften mit sozialen und politischen Bewegungen, das sich als Aktionsform in vielen Ländern des globalen Südens in den 80ern als Alternative zur Stärkung von Gewerkschaften bewährte. Die SGB wurde seit 1995 zum Vorbild für Gewerkschaftsstrategen in etablierten industriellen Demokratien (z.B. USA), die befürchteten, ihre Stärke und breite Unterstützung zu verlieren. Als Begriff wurde SGB ursprünglich von progressiven WissenschaftlerInnen entwickelt, die die kämpferischen und schlagkräftigen Arbeiterbewegungen in Schwellenländern wie Südafrika, Brasilien, den Philippinen und Südkorea untersuchten. In diesem Seminar werden sowohl die Erscheinung und die Entwicklung von der SGB in diesen unterschiedlichen Orten als auch die Zirkulation des SGB-Begriffes unter WissenschaftlerInnen betrachtet. Ein weiteres Ziel dieses Seminars ist es zu diskutieren, wie der SGB in Deutschland betrachtet werden könnte. Die Mehrzahl der Texte ist in englischer Sprache. Daher sind gute Englischkenntnisse erforderlich.
